As a partner with the IWK, the IWK Foundation Board of Trustees and staff are deeply saddened and stand with the Tk’emlups te Secwepemc First Nation.
The Board of Directors, staff, physicians and volunteers of IWK Health are deeply saddened by the discovery of 215 children’s bodies at the site of the Kamloops Indian Residential School. Our collective thoughts are with the members of Tk’emlups te Secwepemc First Nation, as well as all Indigenous communities across Canada at this difficult time.
This discovery is yet another tragic reminder of racism and the atrocities committed against Indigenous people in Canada for generations. IWK Health will always stand against racism and injustice and calls for a renewed commitment to truth and reconciliation across the country.
Support is available for former students, and their families, through the National Indian Residential School Crisis Line.
