For many IWK families Irving Oil’s Fuel the Care program has become a bright spot during tough times.
Over the last 18 years, Fuel the Care has been providing travel assistance in the form of Irving Oil fuel cards for thousands of Maritime patients and their families travelling to the IWK for care.
“When our daughter Ella was diagnosed with a life-threatening condition we spent a lot of time travelling to the IWK,” says Ryan MacPherson, of Cape Breton, NS. “Having Irving Oil there to help lift some of the extra stress of travel was an enormous support to our family.”
In 2020, Irving Oil introduced six designated Fuel the Care fuel pumps at locations across the Halifax Regional Municipality, one cent from every litre purchased goes to support the IWK. It’s just another example of Irving Oil’s commitment to helping patients get to the care they need, when they need it.
“The Fuel the Care program is vital to so many IWK families out there,” says Ryan. “On behalf of myself and all of the other families who have benefited, I just want to say an enormous thank you to Irving Oil for being there for us.”
