Ainsley, IWK patient

Ainsley

For first-time mom Stephanie, the experience of pregnancy was new and a rollercoaster of emotions and physical changes like many first-time mom’s experiences.

Matthew, IWK Patient

Matthew

Twins Ben and Matthew were born prematurely, at 32 weeks, in 2012 and were immediately admitted to the IWK’s Neonatal Intensive Care Unit (NICU). Ben did very well and was discharged after five weeks.

Leila, IWK donor and patient

Leila

Leila knows first-hand the impact of breast cancer because both her mother and daughter are breast cancer survivors. Because of her family’s history, Leila was diligent about routinely checking her breasts as she was nervous it would one day affect her as well.

Addison, IWK patient

Addison

In the fall of 2019, Addison's mother, Sarah, began noticing that her daughter seemed to be more accident prone than other kids her age. She didn’t understand why Addison was getting injured so easily.

Madelyn, IWK patient

Madelyn

Madelyn was brought into the world at the IWK in September 2018.  After her birth, she was having difficulty breathing and was quickly taken to the Neonatal Intensive Care Unit (NICU) to be stabilized and cared for.
